How it all started.
The ETR started with the UK Government's ambition to drive innovation. This ambition then swelled to encompass various futures departments, and not long after that, an ever expanding audience beyond the civil service. Recipients of the ETR share a common denominator: to understand new technologies, and what they mean for us as individuals and for society at large.

After co-founding the UK Government’s Civil Service Innovation Programme in 2015/16, Mike Eric hosted and curated several events throughout the UK aimed at informing the Civil and Crown Services on emerging technologies and how these may affect global society, of which the Emerging Technologies Radar is the signature event. The central question is, can we ‘upgrade’ all aspects of our society so that we can leverage the benefits of emerging technologies?
